Conservation Area Appraisal:
World Heritage Site, Conservation Areas and Listed Buildings activities.
Belper is within the Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site, so conservation activities are important to the Forum.
Youth Forum:
A group of young people meeting informally and planning specific projects.
Personal safety on public transport is an example of an issue of importance to young people. The recent rejuvenation of Belper Railway Station carried out by a number of agencies in partnership is an example of a welcome improvement.
Streetscene:
Looking at individual local issues on a street by street basis.
Bridge Street in Belper is home to many small businesses. This shop provides a good example of how the old character of the street has been maintained in an imaginative and lively way.
Meadows Edge:
Discussing proposals and informing the public about issues in the area of Belper between the town centre and the river.
Derwent Street in Belper in the Meadows Edge Area. The derelict Thornton’s factory has been purchased by Tesco who are expected to submit proposals for a super store, relief road and associated developments in 2008.
