Amber Valley Borough Council meets on Monday 22nd February at 7pm, Ripley Town Hall, to decide whether to adopt the final version of the development brief for the Meadows Edge site in Belper. This is a public meeting - members of the Civic Forum are intending to speak, and the latest submission we have sent to the Council is attached here.
IMPACT OF NEW NATIONAL PLANNING POLICY ON BELPER’S MEADOWS EDGE
OPEN LETTER TO AMBER VALLEY BOROUGH COUNCIL
Earlier in the year, the Civic Forum ran a petition for the County Council to negotiate with the Co-op to consider converting the Somerfield supermarket on King Street in Belper into a new library for the town. We would like to thank over 300 people who signed the petition. It now turns out that the Belper store has been bought by Lincolnshire-based supermarket chain Haldanes stores, with a restriction that it continued to be used as a supermarket.
Amber Valley Borough Council has disappointed all those who were hoping that their planning brief for the Derwent Street/ Meadows Edge site would include firm guidance on the size of new buildings.
